National women journalists’ conclave from tomorrow
Thiruvananthapuram: The state capital will host the national women journalists' conclave on Tuesday and Wednesday. The conclave is organised by the information and public relations department.
Chief minister Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate the event at Mascot Hotel on Tuesday. VK Prasanth, MLA, will preside over the function, with health minister Veena George as the chief guest.
Mayor Arya Rajendran and journalist Maya Sharma will deliver keynote speeches. Meanwhile, a photo exhibition featuring works by women journalists and photographers will be inaugurated by higher education minister R Bindu on Monday at Tagore Theatre.
Following the inauguration by the CM, panel discussions and sessions will take place at Tagore Theatre. Discussions will focus on women in news and gender equality in media, followed by a cultural evening.
On Wednesday, a panel on women in social media will be held, featuring journalists like Rana Ayyub, Leena Raghunath, Maya Sharma, Meena Kandasamy and Anita Pratap. Journalists from Kerala's media organisations and journalism students will also participate in the event.
The event aims to address challenges faced by women in media and promote gender equality in journalism.
