Minister inaugurates Chirayinkeezhu railway over bridge

T'puram: State witnessed unprecedented and remarkable progress in the infrastructure sector in recent years, public works and tourism minister P A Mohamed Riyas said. He was speaking after inaugurating the newly constructed Chirayinkeezhu railway overbridge (RoB).The minister stated that the support extended by Kerala Infrastructure Investment Fund Board (KIIFB) played a significant role in accelerating state's development momentum. "Development projects that would normally have taken 30 years to complete were realised within the past 10 years through KIIFB," he said.
Highlighting govt's infrastructure targets, Riyas noted that initial goal was to complete 100 bridges within five years. However, by the end of the term, more than 150 bridges were successfully dedicated to the public, surpassing expectations. Chirayinkeezhu railway overbridge was constructed at a cost of Rs 25 crore under KIIFB scheme. The 430m long bridge has a total width of 10.15m, comprising a two-lane carriageway and pedestrian pathways on either side, aimed at easing traffic congestion and enhancing safety for commuters. The inaugural function was held near the railway overbridge premises. V Sasi, MLA, presided over the event. District panchayat member Sheela, Chirayinkeezhu grama panchayat president S Sindhu and RBDCK general manager M Ansar were among those present.
