Lion cubs at zoo named Simba, Suri

T'puram: The lion cubs born to Leo and Naila at city Zoo were named Simba and Suri. The names were officially announced by minister J Chinchu Rani during a ceremony held at the zoo on Tuesday. The cubs were born on Jan 20, 2026.Animal keeper V Anilkumar, who dedicated his time to the care of the cubs, was specially commended at the event. The minister also distributed certificates of appreciation to the expert team, including veterinary surgeon Dr Nikesh Kiran.Team members including livestock inspectors Jijo B S and Nahas J S, lab assistant Rajesh Kumar S S, supervisor Rajesh B, keepers Jayachandran M and Akhil C were also honoured by the minister at the ceremony.
