Kerala: Cosmopolitan hospital staff end stir

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The indefinite strike launched by the staff of Cosmopolitan hospital was called off on Tuesday following mediation talks convened by labour commissioner A Alexander.
The hospital management agreed to give revised wages to the hospital staff and nurses as fixed by the state government from May onwards. The management also said that all benefits and allowances related to service contract which had been agreed earlier between the unions and the management will be distributed to the staff without any change.

Another meeting in this regard will be held in the presence of labour commissioner to discuss distribution of other allowances related to contract.
The leaders of unions said that the staff would be back on duty from 7am on Wednesday. District labour officers J Satyadas, Shameem Ahamed, Cosmopolitan management representatives Ashok P Menon, Abraham Thomas, Antony Jacob, representatives of various unions took part in the mediation meeting.
The functioning of hospital was completely disrupted on Monday after a joint strike was called by various unions alleging that management had cut off earlier allowances while implementing minimum wage notification 2018.
