KOCHI: The Kerala High Court on Wednesday issued notices to the Centre and State Government on a petition asking not to re-appoint John Joseph as member of the National Minority Commission as he was facing a CBI inquiry.

KOCHI: The Kerala High Court on Wednesday issued notices to the Centre and State Government on a petition asking not to re-appoint John Joseph as member of the National Minority Commission as he was facing a CBI inquiry.
The notices were issued by Justice C N Ramachandran Nair, on a petition by Joy K A of Ernakulam.
The petitioner submitted that Joseph should not be re-appointed as the member of the commission ignoring the norms prescribed for the appointment for the said post and during pendency of the inquiry.

While P S Sreedharan, Central government standing counsel took notice on behalf of the Union Government, the government pleader took notices for the state, CBI Director and DGP.
The court, however, did not issue notice to Joseph, the fifth respondent in the case at this stage.
