KOCHI: The Advocate General, M Ratna Singh, on Wednesday informed the Kerala High Court that the government was willing to depute an officer, not below the rank of SP, to verify the entire investigation conducted by the police into the suspicious death of Swami Saswatheekananda, former head of the Sivagiri mutt.
The swami had been found drowned in Periyar river at Aluva, where he had gone for a bath on July one last year.
Government also informed the court that they were prepared to conduct further investigation, if necessary, into the matter and assured that if an action was needed, it would be done.
Recording the assurance,Justice K Padmanabhan Nair disposed of the petition filed by the Swami''s mother, N Kausalya, his brother, C Vijay kumar and sister, K Shantakumari,seeking CBI probe into his death.
