Four held for armed house attack in Poonthura
Thiruvananthapuram: Poonthura police arrested four members of a gang for allegedly barging into a house and assaulting a family with weapons on April 12.The arrested have been identified as Binu, 33, of Pallivilakam, Muttatha, and Benans, 28, Binoj, 29, and Baiju, 24, all residents of Muttatha IDP Colony in Poonthura. Police said the attack stemmed from a dispute during a DJ programme held at a local church, where the complainant's brothers had questioned the accused over alleged misbehaviour. Nursing a grudge, a group of around eight persons allegedly reached the complainant's house past midnight and launched a violent assault. The complainant, her husband, children and brothers sustained injuries in the attack and were rushed to a nearby hospital. Based on a complaint, police registered a case and launched a probe. The four accused were produced before a court, which remanded them in judicial custody. Police said efforts are on to identify and apprehend the remaining members of the gang.
