Disciplinary committee to nip dissent in KPCC soon

Thiruvananthapuram: KPCC president Mullappally Ramachandran has talked tough against the growing indiscipline in the party where the leaders are coming out against the appointment of new party office bearers.
“However senior the leaders be, those who are making public comments against party decisions will have to face severe disciplinary action,” said Mullappally Ramachandran in the first meeting of the newly-appointed party office bearers.He was indirectly referring to the open statements made by the senior leader K Muraleedharan against the revamp.
Mullappally said the party will soon have a disciplinary committee which will deal with all such disciplinary issues. “No one will be allowed to misuse the social media against the party. All leaders in the party have the freedom to raise their opinions and comments. But it should be made only in the party forum. All the leaders are given enough freedom to air their opinions in the party meetings,” he said.
AICC general secretary K C Venugopal said that AICC has decided to take strict action against those defying party decisions and making comments in the public against the party or its leadership. “The new office bearers have been selected by the AICC leadership to equip the party in Kerala for the ensuing local body elections. The aim of the party now should be to register an impressive victory in the civic body elections. The AICC will not tolerate any other issues,” he said.
Congress working committee member A K Antony who was also present in the meeting said that the party had no time to waste and everyone should stand united to work for the victory of the party in the local body and next assembly elections.
The KPCC president said that the Congress had the tradition of including leaders who were willing to come back to the party. “The inclusion of Mohan Shankar should be seen only in this direction. The party collectively took the decision to give him a new responsibility in the party,” said Mullappally, on the criticism raised by Muraleedharan against including Mohan Shankar as the new general secretary of the party. On complaints that women have not been given enough representation in the new list, Mullappally said there were grievances and they would be rectified when the new secretaries were appointed.
