THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief minister
Pinarayi Vijayan said here on Wednesday that
C V Raman Pillai
was able to create a different frame of mind-set among the readers through his contributions to literature.
“He was one among the authors who started writing novels even before the genre gained prominence. The present generation should be aware of such revolutionary writers and should also give importance to promoting their mother tongue,” said Pinarayi Vijayan while unveiling the statue of C V Raman Pillai at
Central
library at
Palayam
here.
The statue was unveiled as part of a three day function held to commemorate the 100th death anniversary of writer C V Raman Pillai.
The sculpture was made by
Unni Kanayi
.
“The making of this sculpture was a challenging one for me as no proper reference images of him are available. I started the work two years ago using clay and then molded it with bronze. I believe a sculpture will be only completed after the viewers recognize the person portrayed in the sculpture. For me, my sculpture is complete and I am overwhelmed with the feedback,” said Unni Kanayi, the sculptor.
The books named as ‘Premamritham-C V Charamashathapthippathipp’ and ‘C V Vyakyanakosham’ were released and handed over to librarian P K Shobhana as part of the commemoration function.
