THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Railways has decided to introduce stops for
Kochuveli-Mangaluru Antyodaya Express
at
Alappuzha
and Kasaragod stations, on an experimental basis for a period of six months.
Railways minister
Piyush Goyal, in a letter to V Muraleedharan MP, said he was happy to sanction new stops to the
train
, on the basis of a request from the latter. “We regularly receive requests for better connectivity. However, considering the financial and operational constraints, it may not always be possible to meet all demands,” Goyal said in his letter to Muraleedharan on Thursday.
Protesting against railways for not providing stoppage to the train at Kasaragod, N A Nellikkunnu MLA had pulled the chain of the train last week, on his journey from Thiruvananthapuram to Kasaragod.
Train no 16355/16356 biweekly Antyodaya Express will depart from Kochuveli at 9.25pm on Thursdays and Saturdays to reach Mangaluru Junction at 9.15am the next day. From Mangaluru, it will depart at 8pm on Fridays and Saturdays to reach Kochuveli Station at 8.15am.
