Actor’s death: Kin alleges foul play

Thiruvananthapuram: The relatives of actor Aparna P Nair, 33, who was found dead at her residence on Thursday night, alleged foul play behind her death and demanded a transparent probe to find out the cause of death.Karamana station house officer said preliminary post-mortem findings revealed it as a death by hanging and a detailed probe will be conducted after recording the statement of the people, who were present at the house at the time of the incident, and her other family members.The actor was living with her husband Sanjith at his house at Thaliyal. Her husband and their younger daughter were present at the house when she was found dead.According to her sister Aishwarya, their mother informed her that she committed suicide by hanging. “However, when I reached the house, she was lying on the bed with a portion of the sari strangled on her neck. Her husband was giving vague answers to our questions. Aparna was rushed to a private hospital, where she was declared brought dead,” she said.She added that there were some issues between Sanjith and Aparna due to the former’s alcoholism.According to reports, the actor called her mother hours before her death saying she was upset due to family issues. Police came to know about the death after being informed by the hospital authorities.Karamana police began a probe after registering a case under section 174 of CrPC for unnatural death. The body of the actor was sent to relatives after post-mortem and inquest procedures at the medical college hospital.Aparna was known for TV shows such as Chandanamazha, Atmasakhi, Maithili Veendum Varum and Devasparsham. She has also done films like ‘Meghatheeram’, Mudhugauv, Achayans, Kalki etc.She leaves behind her husband and two daughters.
