108 ambulance team rescues migrant woman newborn after emergency home birth
Thiruvananthapuram: A swift response by Kanivu 108 ambulance team saved the lives of a migrant woman and her newborn baby after an unexpected home delivery.Kabita, 26, wife of Buddha Devdas, of West Bengal, who is currently residing in Thamalam, Karamana, went into labour on Tuesday around 5:30pm. Even though her husband tried to rush her to hospital, she gave birth to a baby girl at home before help could arrive.Learning about the medical emergency, residents immediately contacted Kanivu 108 emergency service. The control room quickly dispatched the nearest available ambulance stationed at Balaramapuram Family Health Centre.Ambulance pilot Naveen Bose C S and emergency medical technician Aromal C S arrived promptly at the scene. EMT Aromal cut the umbilical cord and provided first aid to both mother and baby, ensuring that their condition was stabilised before transferring them to the ambulance.The duo was then rushed to Women and Children Hospital in Thycaud, where they received further medical attention. As it was a home birth case, the authorities placed the baby under observation for a couple of days. Relatives on Saturday confirmed that both the mother and baby were now in good health.The timely intervention and professional care offered by Kanivu 108 team have earned praise for their life-saving service.
