THANE: After the TMC suspended 15 officials, the MLU approached the industrial court last Friday to challenge the civic commissioner's decision. The MLU claimed that the civic commissioner's decision was against the law, as the industrial court had given orders to the TMC not to suspend their workers or tamper with their salary system.
Sharad Rao, the president of the MLU claimed that the TMC's decision was illegal.

"The industrial court had issued orders to the TMC not to suspend workers as well as stop their salaries. Yet, the TMC suspended 15 workers by claiming that they were obstructing the work of government officials," he said.
Rao added that the civic commissioner had issued an order and had made biometric attendance compulsory a few days ago. The commissioner had also claimed that the employees who didn't use the biometric system wouldn't get their salaries. "We approached the commissioner about these difficulties, but he refused to meet us," lamented Rao.
Rao, however, threatened that if the commissioner continued this behaviour, his workers would go on strike, thereby closing most departments in the TMC, especially the TMT. "
"The steps taken by the civic commissioner are simply to cause trouble to our staffers and prevent them from doing their work smoothly. We plan to organise a get-together on December 17 and will discuss the same topic on that day," Rao concluded.
