SVPT school in Thane wins under-12 cricket crown

THANE: Favourites Saraswati Vidya Prasarak Trust (SVPT), Thane, outclassed DAV Public School by 44 runs in the final of the Salgaonkar Trophy Under-12 inter-school cricket tournament hosted by Union Cricket Academy at Central Maidan on Tuesday.
In the final, an all-round show by Aditya Aathavle resulted in the victory of SVPT.
The winning coach, Prasad Parab, was thrilled with the stellar performance of his boys.
Batting first, SVPT was bundled out for 102 runs in the 17th over of T20 format. Ketav Bhosale with 23 runs, Aditya Aathvale with 22 runs and Athrav Gadgil added 15 runs for the team total.
For DAV bowlers, Neel Warekar took 3 wickets for 30 runs and Chinmay Joshi was successful in bagging 2 wickets, conceding just 15 runs.
But the DAV batsmen could not match up to the bowlers’ efforts. They were all-out for a mere 58 runs.
For SVPT, Aditya Aathvale clinched 4 wickets giving away 10 runs while orchestrating the victory. Tushar Kadam pocketed 3 wickets for 9 runs and Athrva Gadgil bagged 2 wickets.
