THANE: The open spaces at the Manpada junction caused due to the demolition drive of several illegal structures along the Ghodbunder Road stretch have become a breeding ground for mosquitoes and other parasites. The demolition activity was carried out for the construction of the proposed service road, a part of which is functional.
The open spaces have become a breeding ground for mosquitoes owing to the accumulated water in them due to rains.

Daily commuters on this stretch are complaining of the mosquito menace since the monsoon started. One of them opined, "The water is accumulated with mosquitoes breeding in it near the Manpada market besides the main road also. Not only the demolition sites at the Manpada junction are affected, but also other parts of the area are affected. This can cause major health problems for people frequenting the areas."
