“Egg is the cheapest food in which one can get protein, calcium and other nutrients which helps in the development of the body and mind. So citizens in rural and tribal areas will be educated about the importance of egg consumption. Also, we have not got any funds to distribute these eggs. So, many residents and doctors have come forward and will be donating eggs which will be distributed in various schools and hospitals in the rural and tribal belt,” said Dr. Laxman Pawar, officer at the animal husbandry department of Thane district.
The officials added that people do not understand and know the factors are needed to have a proper diet.
“For a healthy body, ones diet must be balanced. Also, while one can get impure milk, eggs cannot be adulterated,” said Santosh Bhosale, child and women development officer at Thane district.
