THANE: The Thane sessions court has acquitted 10 persons who charged for

dacoity

in the Thane market in May 2014.

pointed out that the prosecution has miserably failed to prove the charges.

Those acquitted include, Angat Prajapati,38, Deepak Vishwakarma,30, Raju Chauhan,34, Pankaj Rajbhar,32, Manoj Jaiswal,32, Raja Pawar,32, Sujat Shri Krishna Gupta,34, Karan Gupta,30, Hariom Jaiswal,34 and Amar Bahadur Buddhi Ram Yadav,40, said

who represented the accused in the court.

He further informed that the alleged incident took place in Thane city on May 12,2014. The case of the prosecution was that all the alleged accused booked and arrested in the case had caught two collection agents who were deployed to collect the money from the wholesale vegetable suppliers from

Jambhli

market.

On the fateful day, the accused in connivance with each other overpowered him and decamped with the cash of Rs 13.9 lakh.

Thane nagar police station subsequently registered a case under

IPC

sections 395 (dacoity) and 397 (robbery, or dacoity with attempt to cause death or grievous hurt.) and arrested 10 dacoits on the basis of eye witness accounts and CCTV footage, said

The defence counsel argued that the recovery was foisted and identification parade was not conducted as per law. The judge, after hearing both sides, acquitted the accused.
