To ensure a safe election, the Thane police have started arresting those who have previously disrupted the election process. In the process, the cops have arrested 82 persons from Thane, Bhiwandi, Kalyan, Ulhasnagar and Wagle Estate. The cops also conducted a raid and recovered two pistols, three country-made revolvers and five live bullets.
Prashant Burde, the Additional Commissioner of Police (crime) informed Thane Plus that, the cops started the drive and have arrested 82 persons.

"We carried out a raid at Golden Dyes Junction and arrested one Mithilesh Singh (25) and recovered the weapons from him," informed Burde.
Burde added that after this arrested, the Thane police arrested a duo near Kopri Naka. The duo has been identified as Mazan Mohiddin Sheikh aka Raju Patil and Suresh Jinawal. "We recovered a foreign-made pistol from them. Jinawal has a previous criminal record, including a murder charge against him with the Ambernath police," added Burde.
The cops also arrested a gang of three, which is based out of Utter Pradesh. According to the cops, the gang was in Thane to carry out armed robberies The trio operated from Purna, Kalher, Kopar and Rahanal areas. "They worked in the godowns during the day and would carry out dacoities at night," concluded Burde.
