Trader arrested for posting obscene videos of Surat model

Surat: A 28-year-old city-based model has filed a complaint at the Althan police station against a textile trader, accusing him of posting her obscene videos and photographs on Instagram. Police have arrested the accused, identified as Mitesh Jain.According to the complaint, the victim and Jain met through a common friend in 2018 and later entered into a relationship. She alleged that Jain subsequently began harassing her, following which she had earlier lodged a rape complaint against him with Althan police in 2024.Police said that in April 2025, Jain allegedly created a fake Instagram account in the victim's name and posted obscene photographs of her, along with derogatory comments about her family members. In July 2025, Jain and his aide allegedly set fire to the victim's high-end car and another vehicle belonging to her relative in the Vesu and Pandesara areas, leading to two separate complaints. During that period, Jain allegedly threatened the victim with an acid attack.The complainant further alleged that on Feb 19, Jain created an Instagram channel on his account and again posted obscene photographs and videos of her. Similar content was allegedly uploaded again on Saturday. Police said the continued harassment and threats caused severe mental distress to the victim, who stated that she began experiencing suicidal thoughts.Based on the fresh complaint, police initially served a notice to Jain before arresting him. He has been booked under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Information Technology Act for criminal intimidation and related offences.
