Surat unaffected by Congress-called Gujarat bandh

The Congress called state bandh on Friday met with a very luke warm response in the diamond city whereas the district town of Navsari was affected partially in the morning hours.

SURAT: The Congress called state bandh on Friday met with a very luke warm response in the diamond city whereas the district town of Navsari was affected partially in the morning hours.The Congress has given a call for bandh after a long time to protest against the Narendra Modi-led state government and it's policies.Very few Congress workers came out in streets to enforce the bandh as the police had clamped IPC section 144.Few Congress workers in groups of three went on Rajmarg and requested shopkeepers to close their shops in support of the bandh. City Congress president Ashok Jirawala, leader of opposition in Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) and one Congress worker made a group of three and were picketing with folded hands near Lalgate, upom seeing the police van, the trio fled in their car.
