Six arrested for kinapping man over couple’s elopement

Rajkot: In a joint operation, the Dhoraji police and Amreli Local Crime Branch (LCB) rescued a 44-year-old man who was kidnapped on Jan 18 and arrested six people including the brother of a woman with whom the victim's son had reportedly eloped. The kidnapped man has been identified as Vimal Hariyani (44).
Following the incident, Hariyani's daughter Krupali alias Krupa Chitara, lodged a complaint at Dhoraji police station naming Pradyumansinh alias Kano and five unidentified persons.Krupali stated that on Jan 15, she came to know that her younger brother, Dikshit alias Dishu, had eloped with a girl named Hetu from Amreli. The next day, she received a call from an unknown person asking whether her brother was at home. When she replied in the negative, the caller disconnected immediately.Later, her mother informed her that Hetu's brother, Kano, along with a few other men, had come to their house and threatened that if Hetu was not found within 24 hours, they would kill Dikshit. On Jan 18, Kano and his associates came to their house again and took her father along with them. When the family tried to contact him later, his phone was switched off. After failing to trace him, they approached the police.Investigation officer Pratik Gohil told TOI that technical surveillance revealed the victim was in Amreli after which he was rescued.Along with Kano Vala (24), police arrested Gopal Dangar (31), Rajendrasinh Gohil (32), Rushirajsinh Vala (36) and Jitendra Agravat. Police also seized a Swift car used in the crime.
