Water logging in many low lying areas of city.
SURAT: Normal life was hit on Thursday as heavy rains lashed Surat, following which district administration declared a holiday in Surat Municipal Corporation (SMC) run schools for today.
According to IMD forecast, heavy to very heavy rainfall is expected in Surat and south Gujarat region in the next two days.

Areas like Kamrunagar tenement and KamlaNagar tenement in Limbayat, Limbayat railway underpass, Dindoli Underpass, Udhna, Surat- Navsari road in Udhna, Limbayat proper, VIP road were inundated.

People had to wade to reach their destination after heavy rains.

District collector, Dr Dhaval Patel, has declared a holiday for all the SMC-run schools and even advised private school managements to declare holiday in afternoon shift too.

During Thursday morning hours among other talukas to record heavy rains include Chroyasi 65mm, Mahua 40 mm, Bardoli 39 mm and Palsana 38 mm .
