Man held with firearm after domestic feud
Police Recover Buried Weapon
Surat: Limbayat police on Monday arrested a 22-year-old man who allegedly procured a country-made pistol, after getting information that he intended to kill his wife due to a domestic dispute, officers said.
The accused, Samirsha Rashidsha alias Agnipath, had married the woman three months ago. Police said the couple quarrelled over domestic issues, with tensions escalating on Monday evening when the woman went to her parents’ home.
Limbayat inspector D D Chauhan told TOI, “While they had a love marriage, the couple would often quarrel over domestic issues. On Monday evening, the wife of the accused went to her parents’ home. Samirsha went there a couple of times on Monday evening and created a scene. Her family sensed something wrong and informed us that the accused had a country-made firearm and had bad intentions. We began a search and nabbed him in the area.”
After his arrest, the accused confessed to having bought the firearm. He had allegedly buried it in the Nilgiri ground area to avoid police action.
Police said the accused had gone to his wife’s parents’ home twice on Monday. On his second visit, he created a ruckus and abused his wife. The family apprehended danger and did not open the door, after which he left.
During questioning, Samirsha told police he had bought the gun for Rs 10,000 from Samad alias Batako, a resident of Amroli.
The investigation revealed that the accused has a criminal history and was booked for attempted murder by Salabatpura police in 2024. Police teams have been formed to trace and arrest the alleged weapon supplier.
