Surat: A resident of Puna,
Hitesh Solanki (25), has filed a complaint at Puna police station against two brothers for extortion and threat to kill him. He alleged that the accused demanded exorbitant amount on the loans he had taken from them.
According to the case,
Solanki first took Rs 17,000 at monthly interest of 20% in 2020 from
Vijay Dangar and
Mahesh Dangar of Sarthana and paid it back within a month.
After that, he borrowed from them Rs 2.28 lakh at different times between 2021 and December 2022. The rate of interest was 20% a month. Solanki paid back Rs 4.91 lakh, including interest and penalty.
But the Dangars asked him to pay Rs 1.76 lakh more. Under pressure, Solanki tried to commit suicide. After that, a compromise was reached between them. But the accused again started threatening him before two months. They came with a knife and threatened him in the presence of his mother and sister. On May 23, the Dangars called Solanki and made him sign on some papers in front of their lawyers. They also threatened him not to reveal anything to police.
When police started public hearings against loan sharks, Solanki gathered courage and filed a compliant at Puna police station.
