History-sheeter killed in busy area

Surat: A history-sheeter was shot to death by another historysheeter in the crowded Nanavat area of the city on Sunday night.
According to police, Fayuz alias Guddu alias Irbaz Amin Barafwala alias Sukri fired three rounds at Mohammad Bilal alias Haji Abdul Rehma Punawala in Nanavat area. Barafwala escaped on a two-wheeler after firing the shots.
Barafwala suspected that Punawala was helping witnesses in a murder case against him.
Barafwala was booked for murder by Lalgate police. He was yet to be arrested.
Police said that after being shot, Punawala was rushed to a hospital where he died during treatment. The entire incident was captured on CCTV camera. The footage of the firing incident went viral on Monday.
Police investigation revealed that Barafwala had come out of jail on parole recently. He was in jail in connection with a murder case.
“Barafwala’s wife and Punawala are cousins. Barafwala suspected that Punawala was helping witnesses in the murder case registered against him. Both had filed complaints against each other in the past,” said a police officer from Lalgate police station.
Barafwala is the nephew of gangster Arif Mindi, who was booked under Gujarat Control of Terrorism and Organised Crime (GUJCTOC). While Punawala is son-in-law of Mindi.
