Four get life term for murder in road rage case

Surat: A local court on Tuesday convicted four persons and sentenced them to life imprisonment for murder of a man in August 2014 in Pandesara area of the city. A 35-year-old man was stabbed to death by the four persons in the presence of his wife after a road accident.

Deepak alias Deepu Kedar, Gryanbahadur Singh alias Ashish Rajput, his brother Veerbahadur and Kishore alias Bhriyo Patil were convicted and sentenced to life imprisonment for the murder of Ravindra Patil by principal district and sessions judge. Patil was stabbed on Rakshabandhan day on August 10, 2014.

Patil was going with his wife Jagruti, 32, to the residence of his wife’s sister Kalpana at around 4.45pm. Their motorcycle was hit by a van opposite Mahavir Medical between Avirbhav Society I and II. The van also hit an autorickshaw. Patil and his wife asked the van driver to be careful while driving and an argument ensued between them and the four persons travelling in it. Soon the four came out of the van and one of them took out a knife and stabbed Patil on the left side of his chest. Patil began to bleed profusely and collapsed on the road. He was shifted to a hospital where he succumbed to his injury. A case of murder was registered against the four and they were arrested by police.
