Four accused in cryptocurrency scam remanded in police custody for three days
SURAT: A local court has remanded four accused held for their involvement in KBC cryptocurrency scam in police custody
Baljeet Singh Lashkariya, kingpin of the scam and resident of Mumbai, and Mohan Patel, resident of Surat, are yet to be arrested. Baljeet Singh is in custody of Mumbai police in connection with another offence, but the whereabouts of Patel are not known, sources said. Surat police will be initiating process to bring Baljeet Singh to the city soon. KBC cryptocurrency was launched by the accused six months ago by promising investors to convert their 10 paise coin to Rs10 within no time. The value of the coin didn’t increase even by a paise and all the promoters disappeared. Rajesh Maniya, a local investor, who lost Rs1.26 crore in the scam, lodged a police complaint against the accused.
Police have asked other victims of the racket to lodge their complaints at CID crime office in Nanpura Bahumali Bhavan. The victims can also contact police on mobile phone numbers 99099 74447, 98795 09779 and 99784 08718.

Vijay Prajapati and Dhiraj Patel, residents of Mehsana; Kamruddin Sayed, resident of Bharuch; and Ashiq Shaikh, resident of Palanpur, were produced by police, who arrested them on Thursday, in court and sought their remand. Police have recovered a laptop and a mobile phone from the accused. A police officer said, “We have sought details of some accounts from banks. We are also searching for their servers and websites. Two accused in the case are yet to be arrested.”Police have asked other victims of the racket to lodge their complaints at CID crime office in Nanpura Bahumali Bhavan.
