The latest incidents of cash withdrawals with cloned debit cards from ATMs happened at Ulhasnagar town and Gangadhara village on Friday and Saturday from the accounts of victims belonging to Surat district.

SURAT: The withdrawal of Rs 63,000 from the bank accounts of two persons, including a policeman, by unidentified miscreants with the help of cloned debit cards, showed that the menace has now travelled to small towns and villages beyond the limits of Surat city.
The latest incidents of cash withdrawals with cloned debit cards from ATMs happened at Ulhasnagar town and Gangadhara village on Friday and Saturday from the accounts of victims belonging to Surat district.

Mukesh Sonara, assistant sub inspector, lodged a complaint with Bardoli police station in Surat district that Rs 23,000 was withdrawn from his bank account on Friday. Bank officials told him that the cash was withdrawn from an ATM at Ulhasnagar in Maharashtra.
Similarly, Rs 40,000 was withdrawn from the bank account of Rajesh Naeek, a resident of Gangdhara village in Surat district. The miscreant withdrew Rs 10,000 each four times. The theft was carried out in the early hours of Saturday. The victim lodged a complaint with Bardoli police station after he was alerted by the bank.
