Shimla: Chief minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu said on Saturday that the state govt was setting up a state-level advisory board for de-addiction and rehabilitation. Sukhu was speaking after flagging off the ‘Nasha Mukt Indora’ awareness rally at Indora in Kangra district.
The advisory board aims to streamline the activities of various departments looking over substance abuse and would ensure a unified approach to tackle this issue, he said.
The board would foster coordination among different departments’ initiatives, which is expected to yield positive outcomes.
The CM said that the state govt launched a campaign against the drug menace and took stringent action against drug mafia over the past two months and arrested many involved. The state govt is committed to rooting out the drug menace and saving the younger generation from this social vice, he said.
Sukhu said that such awareness campaigns play a crucial role in eradicating and generating awareness against drug abuse. The CM also called for educating the youth about the harmful effects of drugs and ensuring the active participation of all sections of society in fight against substance abuse.
Earlier in the day, the CM inaugurated the newly constructed Rs 4.32 crore PWD division office building at Indora and a Rs 7.72 crore bridge over Khwaji Khad on the Thakurdwara Paral to Bhogarwan road. He also inaugurated the fire post in Indora.
Sukhu also laid the foundation stone for a Rs 50 lakh division office building of HPSEBL at Indora, which is expected to be completed within a year. Health and family welfare minister Colonel Dhani Ram Shandil (retd), agriculture minister Chander Kumar, among other dignitaries, were also present on the occasion.
