NOIDA: A 27-year-old man was stabbed to death in his sleep by two fellow patients at a private drug de-addiction centre in the Dadri area on Thursday.
The police have arrested the duo and registered a case under Section 103 (murder) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita against them.
Investigations revealed Mohit Rawal (24), under treatment for two months, and Lucky (25), admitted for three months, harboured resentment towards Arvind, who resided in Greater Noida's Junpat area.
"On Friday at 3.30 am, when Arvind was sleeping in a room in the drug de-addiction centre, two men who were also receiving treatment for drug de-addiction approached him and stabbed him four to five times in the neck, abdomen, and back," a senior officer said.
Upon hearing Arvind's cries for help, the security guard stationed outside rushed in and immediately alerted the manager of the centre.
"He rushed Arvind to a nearby private hospital where he was declared brought dead. We received information about the incident on the emergency helpline number from the employees of the centre," the officer said.
An employee of the centre said Arvind was initially a patient five months ago, and after rehabilitation, he secured employment as a warden at the facility.
"Over Arvind's dictatorial behaviour, including assigning tasks such as washing the motorbike, cooking food and cleaning, they both were annoyed. Around two months back, Arvind left the job and returned to his home, but after consumption of drugs, he was admitted to our centre again on Dec 6," he said.
On Friday, Mohit and Lucky obscured their room's CCTV camera before committing the offence.
The facility operates under CCTV surveillance and currently houses 22 patients under treatment.
"At the time of the incident, seven people were sleeping in the room. After the murder, the workers of the centre locked the suspects inside the room and alerted the police," a senior officer said.
