Shimla: Chief minister Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Wednesday announced the launch of an initiative for widows, disabled women and ‘Ekal Naris’ registered with the Himachal Pradesh Building and Other Construction Workers Welfare Board . Under the initiative, all eligible women will receive a financial assistance of Rs 4 lakh to construct their houses, said the CM.
Of the total assistance, Rs 3 lakh will be provided for building the house and the additional Rs 1 lakh for constructing essential facilities such as kitchen, toilet and bathroom, he added. To avail the scheme’s benefit, women must be registered with the board and should have completed at least 90 workdays in the last 12 months. Besides this, their annual income should be less than Rs 2.50 lakh. Eligible women must apply for the scheme by submitting the required documents to the labour officer. Once approved, the financial assistance will be directly transferred to the beneficiary’s bank account, he said.
The CM also listed out various welfare schemes, including financial aid for marriage, maternity benefits, education support, medical care, pensions, disability pensions, cremation expenses, relief for sudden deaths, hostel facilities, and widow pensions, being implemented by the board.
