Himachal Pradesh: Dulha and barati reach home after 71 days due to lockdown

for 17 people of a family in Una district of

Himachal Pradesh

who had gone to

West Bengal

for marriage and reached back home after 71 days. The family had reached Bengal on March 21st after which lockdown was announced.

Block Medical Officer

at Kutlehad area of Una district, Dr NK Angra, had discharged 17 people on Friday late evening after they have completed their quarantine period after reaching Himachal Pradesh.

Naresh Kumar Sharma, the Pandit (one who solemnized marriage), said that they were scheduled to come back on March 24 from Kolkata, Bengal after marriage oncluding ceremony but countrywide lockdown was announced and they couldn’t reach back home.

The family had contacted the rural development minister from Una district, Virender Kanwar who made arrangements for them in Bengal. A bus was arranged for this family on May 14th by state authorities and after completing a three day tough journey by road the family reached Una district on May 16th.

They were institutional quarantined in Kutlehad. It was on May 23 that one of the youth among them was found positive for Covid-19. The samples were taken of all others in his contact chain but they were found negative.

Dharampal Negi, the revenue official monitoring the quarantine center, said that there were total 18 persons including four children. “The person found positive is under treatment at COVID care center while 17 of them have been discharged and were advised to stay in home quarantine for one more day” he added.
