184 cases filed, over ₹5L fine imposed in HP
Shimla: As many as 184 cases of illegal mining were registered across Himachal Pradesh over the past week, based on complaints received during a special drive. Fines amounting to Rs 5.49 lakh were imposed on the offenders.
Sharing this information, state director of industries Yunus, said on Monday, that a statewide campaign has been launched to curb illegal mining activities. He added that the industries department is ensuring public participation to prevent illegal mining.
The officer urged citizens to share any information or complaints related to illegal mining with the department through WhatsApp number 08988500249, landline number 0177-2990575, or email at geologicalwing@gmail.com. The director said that prompt action is being ensured on the information shared regarding illegal mining by the citizens.
He said that sharing such details not only helps combat illegal mining but also ensures environmental protection. Mining and mineral industries play a vital role in strengthening the state’s economy, added Yunus. He emphasised the need to adhere to policies and rules related to environmental protection and scientific mining during resource extraction. The officer added that preventing illegal mining and safeguarding the environment is a collective responsibility.
