Sukhvinder Singh Sukhu on Friday directed all the deputy commissioners (DCs) and superintendents of police (SPs) to ensure strict crackdown on illegal mining and drug menace.
The chief minister, while presiding over the second day of the ‘DC-SP Conference’, also issued directions to the DCs to review flagship schemes at the sub-division level and to submit a report by Dec 31. Sukhu held discussions on Friday with the DC and SPs of Hamirpur, Mandi, Kangra, Kullu, Sirmaur, Shimla, and Solan districts and directed them to focus on good governance.
During the meet, the CM emphasized involving the community to curb illegal mining effectively. The state govt is also contemplating the creation of a dedicated wing led by an IG-level officer to intensify action against drug abuse, he added.
