3 students of prominent boarding school in Shimla go missing; parents receive threat calls, police launch drone search

Three class 6 students from a Shimla boarding school, Vedansh Bharti, Angad Lather, and Hitender Singh, went missing after venturing out on their weekly outing. Police have registered a kidnapping FIR and are using drone mapping and CCTV footage to locate them.

SHIMLA: Three students of class 6 of a prominent boarding school in Shimla went missing on Saturday after they stepped out of the school on their weekly outing day.The missing students have been identified as Vedansh Bharti from Kullu in Himachal Pradesh, Angad Lather from Karnal in Haryana and Hitender Singh from Mohali in Punjab.The New Shimla Police Station has registered an FIR for kidnapping of minor children under section 137(2) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita(BNS).“On the basis of complaint, we have registered the FIR and we are doing drone mapping of the entire area. The missing students’ last location has been traced near to the school,” inspector Manoj Thakur, SHO of New Shimla Police Station told TOI.The police are also checking CCTV footage of the area.The school principal had submitted a complaint on Saturday evening to the police stating that these three students had moved out of the school on the outing day towards Mall Road in Shimla but did not return to the school before the scheduled time.As per information, parents of the missing students had also received a threat call from a US based number on Saturday evening that their kids are in the custody of dangerous people. As per information, parents of one of these missing students also belong to a political family.
