Shillong: There was never a dull day with Brother Eric Steve D’Souza in the classroom, one of his many students in St Edmund’s fondly recalls.
The mortal remains of Brother D’Souza, fondly called Dasu by his students, were interned at the Laitumkhrah Catholic Cemetery in the city after a mass at the iconic school chapel, where chief minister Conrad K Sangma, who too was tutored by him, was present on Wednesday.
As per his wishes, the body of Brother D’Souza, who had passed away in Goa on Oct 13, was brought to Shillong and laid to eternal rest.
“Deeply saddened by the passing of Brother Eric Steve D’Souza, my childhood teacher and mentor. His lessons went beyond textbooks, shaping not just minds but also the hearts of so many. We have lost a true educator whose guidance will forever be cherished,” Conrad said in his message of condolence.
