Shillong: The International Water Conclave, organised by the Meghalaya ministry of water resources, here on Friday emphasised on leveraging technology for effective water management.
Addressing the meeting, chief minister Conrad K Sangma highlighted the role of technology, including IT data, analytics and predictive models in enhancing overall water management strategies.
“It’s imperative for us to harness data effectively to develop predictive models, which can significantly streamline future decision-making processes. Our collaboration with North Eastern Space Applications Centre underscores our commitment to monitoring various environmental parameters using advanced technologies.
The establishment of the Data Innovation Centre in Meghalaya will further facilitate data collection and analysis across departments, enabling us to develop robust predictive models,” the CM said.
Discussing the implementation of the Jal Jeevan Mission, the CM said, “From less than 1% coverage in 2019, Meghalaya has made remarkable strides and currently boasts nearly 75% coverage. We aim to surpass 90% mark by the end of this financial year.”
