Contraband worth Rs 11L seized in Meghalaya

SHILLONG: Troops of BSF Meghalaya thwarted smuggling activities in two separate operations and seized Indian sugar and other contraband items worth more than Rs 11 lakh while being smuggled into Bangladesh on Friday, reports Manosh Das.

"Troops of 200 Battalion BSF conducted an operation in Dambukaphal in West Garo Hills. Indian sugar weighing 5000 kg meant to be smuggled into Bangladesh was seized," read a BSF statement. "In another operation, troops of the 110 Battalion BSF intercepted a pick-up vehicle in Kasinda in East Khasi Hills carrying miscellaneous items while being smuggled into Bangladesh," the BSF said.
