The initiative of a car rally is significant as it provides our youth an opportunity to meet people from other regions. This will expose them to different types of people belonging to various occupations, cultures, languages and ethnicities and would bring in national integration, unity, understanding and respect for one another,” the CM said.
A total convoy of 12 vehicles will traverse through all the states of the northeast except for Manipur due to security reasons and eventually end at Guwahati on NCC day.
Conrad highlighted various programmes of the government, including YESS Meghalaya which provides financial support of up to Rs 1 lakh to the youth for various programmes held in their communities.
The CM said his government has supported 3,000 such groups so far with the vision to reach about 10,000 groups soon and also highlighted the Meghalaya Grassroots Programme, which provides financial support and gives opportunities to local youth to perform at various locations, including important tourist landmarks, cafes, restaurants and important events throughout the State. “In Season One, we have financially supported 1,500 youths.
