High metabolism could be an early indicator of Alzheimer's disease: Study
Researchers from the Karolinska Institutet have discovered that a metabolic increase in the hippocampus could indicate the early stages of Alzheimer's disease. This finding could lead to new early intervention methods for the disease. The study used mice that developed Alzheimer's pathology similar to humans and found that an increase in metabolism was followed by disruption to the cellular recycling system. The researchers believe that detecting metabolic changes could be a diagnostic factor for Alzheimer's disease. Further research will focus on the role of mitochondria and autophagy in the development of the disease.

India is the first country to have an approved drug for NAFLD and NASH.
Air pollution linked to Parkinson's disease, finds study
A new study has found that living in areas with higher levels of air pollution increases the risk of developing Parkinson's disease by 56% compared to areas with lower pollution levels. The study, conducted by researchers at Barrow Neurological Institute, also found regional variations in the relationship between air pollution and Parkinson's disease, with certain areas in the US being identified as hotspots. The findings suggest that air pollution should be considered as a contributing factor to the development of Parkinson's disease, alongside other known risk factors such as pesticide exposure. The researchers hope that the study will lead to stricter policies to reduce air pollution levels and decrease the risk of Parkinson's disease.
