Air shows to motivate youths, says Air Marshal Dharkar

Shillong: Air Marshal S P Dharkar on Friday said air shows will motivate the youths to join the Air Force.The Eastern Air Command Air Officer Commanding-in-Chief said there are a lot of youths in Meghalaya who are interested in joining the services and the Air Force in particular.The Air Marshal was the chief guest at the air show at the scenic Umiam Lake here.“I hope that air shows like this will further motivate them (youths) to join us (IAF) ... We find that Meghalaya has a large number of youths who are interested in the services, specially in the Air Force,” Dharkar told the media. He said the Air Force teams had to modify their aircraft profile suitably to adapt to the elevation in Shillong. PTI

IAF may hold air show in Arunachal: Air Marshal Dharkar

The Indian Air Force is considering conducting an air show in Arunachal Pradesh, a strategically important state bordering China. Air Marshal SP Dharkar, AOC-in-C of the Eastern Air Command, stated that while it would be challenging in the hilly terrain, it is an interesting idea to showcase the force's air power in the region. Dharkar expressed confidence that an air show in Arunachal Pradesh may happen in the near future. The Indian Air Force recently organized an air display at Borjhar station, featuring helicopters and fighter aircraft like Sukhoi-30 and Rafale.

IAF's Eastern Command building capability to use any airfields: Air Marshal Dharkar

The Indian Air Force is working on using civilian airfields in the eastern part of the country to address the shortage of landing facilities. Air Marshal SP Dharkar stated that they have the capability to use any available airfield and are continuously improving in this regard. The Eastern Air Command is also introducing the latest technologies to protect the country's airspace and borders more efficiently. Additionally, Dharkar mentioned the possibility of having a second base for Rafale jets in the region if required.
