Unable to repay loans, 3 of family end lives

Namakkal: Three of a family hanged themselves at their house at Nadupalayam near Elachipalayam in Namakkal district on Tuesday. Police suspect that they might have taken the extreme step as they were unable to return the money that they had borrowed from several people.
The Elachipalayam police identified the deceased as K Natesan, 65, his wife Sindhamani, 52, and son Nandha Kumar, 36.The incident came to light after their neighbours suspected that something was amiss as the trio didn’t come out of their house even after 9am on Tuesday and alerted police.
Police broke open the main door and found the trio hanging from the ceiling of the house. Thebodies were sent to the government hospital at Tiruchengode for postmortem. Preliminary inquiry revealed that Natesan was a carpenter and he wasn’t getting enough work to run the family because of health issues. Nandha Kumar too did not have any job. “They borrowed money from several people and self-help groups,” a police officer said. tnn
