Three bonded labourers rescued from poultry farm

rescued

by a team led by sub-collector of Namakkal revenue division Kranthi Kumar from a poultry farm at Oruvandur village near Mohanur in Namakkal on Thursday evening.

According to Kranthi Kumar, his team rescued B Thangaraj, 28, his wife Maheswari, 32, and his 14-year-old daughter, who had been working in the poultry farm for the last eight years.

Thangaraj of Jagadhabi village in Karur district job at the poultry farm and shifted to Namakkal district along with his family. “Before joining work, Thangaraj, borrowed Rs 50,000 as advance from the poultry farm owner V Jaganathan,” Kranthi Kumar said. After that the poultry farm owner did not give salary to Thangaraj.

Meanwhile, Thangaraj approached the sub-collector through an NGO following which Kranthi Kumar and his team reached the poultry farm and rescued the trio.

The sub-collector after rescuing the trio, issued the release certificate. “Compensation will be given to the victims on Monday,” sub-collector added.

Based on the repeated crimes, the sub-collector directed the labour department to register a case against the poultry farm owner Jaganathan with Mohanur police. The sub-collector had earlier rescued four persons from the same poultry farm about three months ago.
