Rly gives away pepper spray to women staff

Salem: As a safety measure and for self-defence, the Salem division of Southern Railway on Tuesday distributed pepper spray to women gatekeepers, track maintainers, loco pilots and guards.

The device was distributed to women employees at an event held at divisional railway manager’s chamber.

“We have distributed pepper spray to women employees of our division,” divisional railway manager (DRM) U Subba Rao said. He instructed the railway station managers in the division to purchase the device with station imprest funds.
