Rly gets Rs 11L as fine from ticketless travellers
Salem: Salem railway division has collected nearly Rs 11 lakh as penalty from passengers travelled without proper ticket during the Diwali festival.
Divisional railway manager U Subba Rao said they had been undertaking ticket checking drives on a regular basis under the leadership of senior divisional commercial manager A Vijuvin.
Between November 2 and 6, as many as 2,625 people were found travelling without proper tickets and carrying un-booked luggage and they were fined a total of Rs 10,79,525, the divisional railway manager said.
