Woman out on morning walk hit by truck in Hazaribag, dies

Hazaribag: A 50-year-old woman, who was out on her morning walk, was killed after being run over by a tipper truck at a village in Barkagaon block on Saturday. Angry locals then blocked the road for 11 hours, which brought transportation of coal from NTPC’s mine to a standstill.Locals said Tetri Devi of Barwadih village was hit by the truck around 5:30 am. The driver fled the spot. Angry locals then blocked traffic at 13 Mile. Over 120 of NTPC’s coal-laden trucks were stranded. “The NTPC will provide Rs 8 lakh in compensation to the deceased’s family and jobs to two members,” circle officer Manoj Kumar said.
