Jamshedpur: Deputy commissioner Karn Satyarthi asked the district education officials to prepare a weekly syllabus calendar for Class X students of govt run schools, including residential girls’ schools, by September 20.
Besides, the schools have to take class tests every fortnight so that weaker students are identified and weekly remedial classes held for them every Saturday.
The DC said, “It’s time to take additional measures to prepare the students for the Jharkhand Academic Council (JAC) board examinations, which is four months away. Weekly tests will determine which student is weak in which subject. Remedial classes will be organised to improve the student in the respective subject.”
The block education officials have been asked to monitor the exercise and ensure that the instructions are followed on the ground level.
The education officials would visit schools for conducting random inspections of the preparatory classes.
East Singhbhum had topped the JAC Class X board exams in the state in 2024 but slipped to 16th rank in 2025.
The DC, during a review of the JAC affiliated schools on Saturday, found that bank accounts of 14,859 students were yet to be opened.
He asked officials to coordinate with lead district manager and ensure accounts are opened at the earliest.
District education officer (DEO) Manoj Kumar said, “A total of 4,000 bank accounts were opened in August and that the accounts of the remaining students would be opened soon.”
The DC directed the education officials to ensure online attendance of both the teachers and the students was recorded daily without fail on the e-Vidya Vahini portal.
Noting that cleanliness is vital to a good educational eco-system, the DC asked the officials to initiate swachhta campaigns in the schools. “Launch school swachhata campaign, felicitate schools with swachhta prize to cultivate the sense of cleanliness and sanitation among the students and staff,” DC said.
There are 88 govt high schools, nine Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas, and two Jharkhand Awasiya Balika Vidyalayas in the district.
