Bengal Elections: EC Publishes Supplementary Voter List, TMC Claims 40% Names Affected

Ahead of the West Bengal elections, the Election Commission has published the first supplementary voters’ list following Supreme Court-monitored adjudications. So far, 29 lakh cases have been cleared, but over 60 lakh remain pending, with the highest numbers in Murshidabad, Malda, and the 24 Parganas districts. The TMC has reacted strongly, alleging tampering and warning of High Court action. Judicial officers have been reassigned to districts with heavier workloads, and law and order preparations have been intensified. Voters can check their names online, and appellate tribunals will ensure disputes are addressed before the elections, which may impact turnout in key constituencies.
