Traffic wing implements special plan for exam days; Extra police deployment aims to prevent delays for Class 10 and 12 students
Ranchi: The traffic wing initiated a special plan to make commute to examination centres smooth for the Class 10 and Class 12 examinees. On Tuesday, CBSE board exams began across the state, while JAC boards got rolled out earlier this month.
As per the plan, traffic department changed the timing of the traffic police deployment during the day from 9 am to 8 am.
Besides, additional deployment is also being made around the popular schools, especially those located on busy roads, to ensure a smooth flow of traffic in the area, police said. Quick reaction teams would be positioned at the busy spots, it added.
Among the schools are the Delhi Public School in Dibdih, Cambrian School in Kanke, DAV Bariatu and DAV Hansraj in Bariatu, and Surindranath Public School in Kokar.
Traffic SP Rakesh Ranjan in the morning personally visited several schools, including DAV Bariatu, to assess the traffic status in the area.
He said, “The new traffic timing and deployment would be implemented during the examination days. The aim is to ensure that no student fails to appear due to traffic jams.”
He appealed to people to park their vehicles properly on the roadside when they come to drop or pick up their children, adding that it would enable a smooth flow of traffic.
The CBSE city coordinator and principal of DPS Ranchi, Dr Jaya Chauhan, said, “It is a good step by the police administration. We already provided them with the schedule of the examinations. I also suggested students arrive at the examination centres at least 30 minutes early. Students coming from long distances should try to arrive 40 minutes before.”
Dr Chauhan said that the examinations on Tuesday were held smoothly, adding there was no instance of unfair practices.
