Toppers credit consistency, family support for success

Ranchi: Behind the impressive CBSE Class XII scores achieved by Ranchi students this year lies a common theme: discipline, emotional resilience and clarity of career goals.

From aspiring chartered accountants to future lawyers and doctors, city toppers say consistency and family support played a crucial role in their academic journey.

Piyush Shankar of Sharda Global School scored 99% in commerce, securing 495 out of 500 marks. He scored 99 in English, Business Studies and Economics, 98 in Accountancy and 94 in Applied Mathematics. Son of Vinay Shankar, AGM (Finance) at NBCC, Piyush now aims to become a Chartered Accountant and has already started preparing for CA entrance examinations.

“There is always pressure around board exams, especially after pre-board marks and comparisons among students. I tried avoiding unnecessary panic and concentrated only on my own preparation,” he said. Piyush admitted there were phases during preparation when he lost motivation and did not feel like studying, but discipline and long-term goals kept him focused.

Among the science stream achievers, Shivanshi Sharma of DPS Ranchi secured 99.2%, scoring 496 out of 500 marks. The 17-year-old daughter of BIT Mesra professors is now preparing for a career in medicine and has already appeared for NEET examinations this year. Shivanshi said maintaining balance was important during preparation. “I tried not to burden myself with unrealistic study schedules. Regular revision and conceptual clarity helped me stay confident during exams,” she said.

In humanities, DPS Ranchi student Riyan Sarda emerged among the top scorers with 99.6%. Riyan has already secured admission at Jindal Global Law School and aims to work at the Supreme Court of India in the future. Son of a social worker mother and a businessman father who is also a member of the FJCCI mining committee, Riyan said his preparation phase became emotionally difficult after a health setback in the family.

“There was a period when I was mentally stressed and distracted. My parents constantly supported me and helped me stay focused despite the situation,” he said. Riyan added that humanities helped him develop analytical thinking and strengthened his interest in law and public affairs.
